Nike makes high-quality shoes, but they also produce great running apparel that’s stylish as well as practical.
If you’re looking for comfortable, durable leggings with a good range of motion, then you should be looking at the best Nike leggings and tights for women.
When running in tights, you want to make sure that they’re durable enough to withstand your movements but not so thick that you overheat.
We have chosen the Nike Speed Tights as our top pair. They have a wider-than-usual waistband and flat seams for chafe-free comfort, Dri-FIT technology to remove moisture from the fabric before it gets damp, and two easy-access pockets to store valuable items.
But there are other great styles and choices. Here are our favorite Nike leggings and tights.

Best Long Leggings for Running
1. Nike Speed Tights
If you prefer to run in long leggings, then the Nike Speed Women’s 7/8 Running Leggings are our first choice.
They’re not only a great product made by a reputable brand, but they’re also more environmentally-friendly than many others, being made from 50% or more recycled materials.
Being comfortable is important when you’re wearing tights, and Nike Speed tights are designed to provide optimal comfort. The 7/8 in their name refers to the length of the pants legs, which stop just above the ankle, on the lower calves.
They’re skin-tight, so there’s no extra material flapping around the ankles and getting in the way when you’re working out.
Another feature that adds to the comfort of these leggings is the wide, mid-rise waistband. The width of the waistband disperses force so there’s no chafing, and you’ll hardly feel them on your skin. This waistband is not likely to leave marks on your skin when you take them off.
It also helps to provide a feeling of tight support, without discomfort. On the other end, the ankle hems are split open to encourage better airflow. Whether you’re running, doing yoga, or in the gym, their sleek design offers free range of motion so you can do whatever workout you’re doing with proper form.
Dri-FIT technology draws moisture to the surface to be evaporated, keeping you dry from waist to toe. There’s even a phone-sized pocket on the right-hand side and a smaller pocket for storing small valuables.
- Dri-FIT technology
- Wide mid-rise waistband
- Drop-in pockets
- Flat seams
- Some may find the calf-length to be uncomfortable
Top 3/4 Length for Running
2. Nike Run Division Capris
If you don’t like the length of the Speed Tights, then capris may be more your style. They are 3/4 length, so they end just below the knee, or on the upper calf. The waistband is elastic but also has a drawcord so you can get the perfect fit.
The waistband may be slightly less comfortable than our first choice, as it’s not as wide. The tighter, thinner waistband could feel tight around the waist, especially if worn for extended periods of time. It could also lose its elasticity over time.
A handy zippered pocket in the center back of the leggings is just the right size for most smartphones. If you run or exercise without your phone, you can always store an energy gel or chew in it. An open pocket on the side of the right leg is perfect for a house key or energy bar.
The leggings are made from a mix of four-way stretch polyester and spandex, so they’re stretchy and fit right against the skin. You’ll also find reflective elements on the center back and the front left leg, so you will be visible in twilight conditions.
- Zippered pocket
- Elastic waistband with a drawcord
- Four-way stretch material
- Reflective elements
- The elastic waistband could start to feel tight after wearing for a few hours
Best Light Compression Leggings
3. Nike Epic Luxe Leggings
Compression leggings can be useful if you suffer from circulation problems or muscle soreness during or after a run.
They help to reduce the vibrations in soft tissue and stimulate blood flow in the muscles, so you don’t get as sore. They can also help to quickly get rid of waste products like lactic acid.
These leggings have light compression, but enough to feel it. The leggings are meant to be tight, so if you’re uncomfortable with skin-tight clothing, these might not be right for you.
The waistband is also wide, snug, and won’t chafe, so they provide great comfort. It also has a drawstring in case you want an even tighter fit. Since the last version, the gusset shape has been updated for a more flattering design.
Five(!) pockets give you enough space to carry your phone, keys, and extras. For extra airflow, the backs of the calves are perforated so you can feel the air flowing.
Although these leggings offer some benefit from their light compression, they may not be thick or warm enough to wear in winter weather.
- Lightweight with a compressive feel
- 5 easy-access pockets
- Updated gusset shape
- Perforations on the back of the calf
- They may not be warm enough to use in cold weather
Top Leggings with Pockets
4. Nike Epic Luxe Run Division
If you need a pair of tights that has a safe pocket for storing valuables, the Epic Luxe features a water-repellent pocket in the back. Your valuables will be safe from rain, sweat, and possible puddle splashes, so you don’t have to worry.
They also have a thick waistband that spreads pressure across the waistline so it doesn’t hurt or rub. An inner drawcord can be used to get the perfect fit and then tucked away again.
The wool-blend material keeps you warm when you’re out on the road. Although these tights can be used alone or as a base layer, they may be too warm to layer over unless it’s very cold.
- Water-repellent lined back pocket
- Reflective design
- Made from a wool-blend material
- Wide mid-rise waistband
- Although they’re designed to be used as a layer, they may be too warm
Best Mid Rise
5. Nike One Luxe Tights
These leggings are designed to be comfortable enough to be worn all day, not just for your run or workout. The material is soft on the skin, so you can wear it for as long as you like without feeling any discomfort.
The waistband is uniquely contoured to follow the natural curves of the waist. It’s wide and soft, so you can wear these for hours without feeling any hint of tightness. Also, the waistband features power mesh for better ventilation.
Made from polyester and elastane, these tights are stretchy enough to give you freedom of movement, yet supportive enough to keep you feeling strong and centered. This material mix is also sweat-wicking so you can keep dry and clean.
There are no reflective details on these tights, so if you want to go running at night you’ll need to take other reflective gear with you.

6. Nike Air Epic Fast
Durability is important, as you want every piece of apparel you buy to last you a good long time. These leggings are the ones we’ve chosen as our most durable tights.
Nike Power material is sturdy and made to withstand the elements and regular use. The high-rise waistband provides comfort and sleekness, giving these tights a flattering look.
Dri-FIT technology repels moisture, and there’s extra breathable mesh behind the knee and calf to help circulate cool air.
There’s a zippered pocket on the back and a small interior pocket for small items to be carried safely. They’re durable enough to just be thrown in the washing machine when you’re done.
- Nike Power fabric
- High-rise waistband
- Breathable fabric behind the knee and calf
- Dri-FIT Technology
- Some runners may find the high-rise waistband uncomfortable
Best for Cold Weather
7. Nike Pro HyperWarm
These may look like any other pair of tights, but they’re made specifically with cold weather in mind. They use Nike Pro HyperWarm technology and Dri-FIT max, designed to keep you both warm and dry.
A brushed interior adds plushness and warmth to the polyester and spandex construction. They stretch well, so you can do almost any exercises in them without worrying about your range of motion.
A triangular gusset makes these tights more comfortable and facilitates that range of motion. It also makes them more sleek and flattering when worn, along with the no-slip waistband.
The legs come down to the ankle, so it’s advisable to wear long socks with these leggings in winter to prevent a gap between socks and leggings where wind, rain or cold could get in.
- Nike Pro HyperWarm technology
- Stretchy fabric
- Triangular gusset
- No-slip elastic waistband
- The leg length could have been longer to provide more coverage against the cold
Top Leggings for Yoga
8. Yoga Luxe Infinalon
If yoga is your passion, these leggings would be a good choice for you. They are specifically made for yoga and use a particularly soft, stretchy material for comfort and flexibility.
This special fabric is thin and flexible, yet stronger than others of the same thickness. You can stretch and move however you want to, and these leggings will accommodate you.
While being light and flexible, the material is also breathable so you won’t get too hot while working out. The knit pattern allows good airflow, so you will remain cool, calm and collected.
Depending on the color you buy, these tights may seem to be translucent. Be careful when buying, and take this into consideration.
- High-rise sculpting waistband
- Minimal seam lines
- Dri-FIT technology
- Made from soft Nike Infinalon fabric
- Some women may find these tights to be see-through

- High-waisted design
- Body-hugging fit
- Nike Dri-FIT technology
- The material moves with you
- May be less breathable than others
Why is it beneficial to run/workout in leggings?
There are some benefits to running or working out in leggings or tights, whether you’re indoors or outdoors.
Leggings can serve the dual purpose of keeping you warm in the winter, by blocking out the cold and wind, and keeping you cool in summer, by reflecting the sun and heat away from your body.
Tights and leggings are usually comfortable and stretch to fit tightly without restricting or causing discomfort. They don’t restrict movement, so it makes it easy to do whatever kind of training you want to do.
Because there’s no loose material, the chances of chafing are much less. Also, if your tights are compression tights, they offer some support of the legs and leg muscles.
What are seamless leggings?
In normal tights, you can see a seam where the material has been stitched together. In seamless leggings, you can’t see any seams, and it almost looks like the leggings are made out of one single piece of material.
This makes the tights look sleeker, but it also helps prevent chafing and hot spots.
What material is used?
Tights and leggings are commonly made from nylon, polyester, or cotton. Cotton is less common because it’s not as stretchy as the others.
